Social Media Podcast

This Post is made by Jonathan

Due to the fact that many other podcasts such as the one i researched namely Dissect have propped up their own social media page in order to fulfill uses such as promoting their podcast, making "filler" content to increase awareness of their podcast, and of course selling merchandise i decided it would be right for LSD (lyrics sounds decibels) to do the same.

After looking at Dissect's instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/dissectpodcast/) & that of Color Studios which is not a podcast but had a Youtube channel which focused on themes similar to ours (pop culture and music), i decided i would model LSD's social media page after them, not to be a copy of them but just to take inspiration.

Other than the content the way they organized their post was also fascinating, here we see a consistent color scheme, pink on one side of the page and green on the other, the bottom is dominated more by a blue-sky blue scheme.

(Dissect's Instagram Page)

After some scrolling into Dissect & Color's instagram page i found posts that introduced what their next podcasts or youtube video was going to be about though this did not make up a majority of posts, most of them like the one featured above would posts a picture of an artist while essentially advertising them whether it be writing trivia about them or just promoting their song, this is especially true for COLORS & DISSECT such as the post shown below.

Here is an example from Colors shamelessly promoting their merchandise to their audience, i intend to make a post to do the same, the result when done will follow on the blog.

My plan is to "sell" my followers a hoodie with LSD written on it, as a hoodie is a cultural symbol for rebellion especially that of youth along with the usage of LSD which was popularized by the youth culture of the 60s (Hippie), because of that the merchandise may resonate our audience which according to the survey was mostly Grade 12 thus 17 years old, an age where they observe behaviors such as rebellion.

Meanwhile, for the filler posts i decided to copy Dissect's post which give trivia about artists while posting about them, these artists are not necessarily the ones featured on their Youtube channels but just interesting discoveries such as the post above about Tyler the Creator.

My filler posts have been uploaded and my idea was to put my own spin into this concept which is introducing musical acts and groups from all over the world, Colors does the same thing for rap artists but i have branched out to include other genres such as Pop and Rock. The idea was to feature bands or artists from all around the world whose main audience was people of our target demographic mainly males and females aged 17 or somewhere around there in order to target these people to listen to our podcast via Star Appeal (Demographic Factor), because of this i targeted artist such as the rising star of France's rap scene "Luidji" and the Russian rock group that is still considered underground "Saypink!", i also thought that the album cover of Saypink's eponymous album would fit with the next Kurt Cobain post which mentions the devil and sinister forces.

Using the app called WOXO i was able to create a fake instagram story template, this is due to the fact that functioning from a laptop does now allow me to create stories, my idea was to create a fake instagram poll where followers would pick the next topic.

The idea was to allow for prosumerism where the supposed audience will pick the theme for our episode and in accordance with our first episode they have picked the 27 Club.

This is the interface of our social media page so far

Narrative Theory

Narrative Theory What is a Narrative? A Narrative describes on how a story is being told by a person like a Director would in their films. Unlike a plot who describes what the story is , like Harry Potter realizing he's a wizard or Luke Skywalker destroying the 1st Death Star. A Narrative combines the various  elements within the film like setting character or plot and tells that story in way for it to signify the most meaning towards audience.  A Story can be Narrated in various ways, either using first person or third person,  A sequence of a story might not always stay in line as well, Sometimes a stories would have  fragmented  sequences ( where the plot jumps back or forwards in the past or in the future ). And all the methods have their own specific uses and meaning which goes back to what the story makers want to have the audience to receive. A Typical storyline would look something like this : Beginning  ------ Middle ------ Ending

Post Modernism Case Studies

Analyze the key characteristics of postmodern media? Jean Baudrillard stated that post modernist texts is a copy of a copy in where there is reality, Heightened reality and hyper reality, with each one being more surreal than the other. A Documentary like 'Hailstorm' ( 2022 ) available on Netflix is an example of heightened reality as it includes aspects that are real such as natural environment, sounds and real life locations but at the same time includes artificial editing that creates different meaning in the form of music, narration and camera angles. While audiences would still be able to tell the difference on what's real or not. Their perception of the film changes depending on what the Producers show. The cooking show 'Hell's Kitchen' ( 2023 ) is a TV Series that haves chefs battle each other in a cooking contest. This series in considered as a Hyper Reality as audiences would struggle to grasp on what exactly is real in the film and what isn't. This
